Each week, students will have three days of planned assignments clearly laid out as a checklist. When the student returns, we will check and record their progress so you know how much and to what level of quality your child is participating over time.
Our staff carefully plans and purchases books and supplies so that the guesswork and budgeting is done.
With two class days, your family still has the freedom to plan other activities, work together, plan field trips, and take vacations together. Also, time at home reading together means that you stay connected to your kids.
Evergreen School meets regularly for a book club for parents and teachers. This is a chance for us to invest in our own lives and have community through living books. Sometimes we pick an educational read, and other times we read a classic novel.
Not everyone is familiar with Charlotte Mason's methods. In addition to the CM education your child will receive from your child's teacher, Evergreen offers regular training meetings to discuss elements such as nature study, narration, timelines, art, poetry memorization, and others. We also send out a weekly newsletter which often contains a CM tip or reminder.
Each year, there are field trips and events that our students and parents plan outside of class. Visits to the Cullman Agriplex, local parks, and riding home together are some of the ways the students build community during their homeschool days. Older students are encouraged to register together for TeenPact, dual enrollment, and other organizations.
